- Smooth Lindy -
Most people have heard of Lindy Hop but did you know that Smooth Lindy (also known as Hollywood Style) is a style variation on the Lindy Hop. Dean Collins learned to dance the Lindy Hop at the Savoy, and developed his own personal style. His own style was smoother and slower, and he brought that style to Los Angeles and Hollywood in the early 1930's. Dean Collins' style of swing, often called "Smooth Lindy," would be used in many of the movies in Hollywood, thus this style is also referred to as "Hollywood." Dean Collins' style of swing has also been referred to as "G.I. Lindy."

Collegiate Shag
The Collegiate Shag (or "Shag") is a partner dance done primarily to uptempo swing and pre-swing jazz music (185-200+ beats per minute). It belongs to the swing family of American vernacular dances that arose in the 1920s and 30s. It is believed that the dance originated within the African American community of the Carolinas in the 1920s, later spreading across the United States during the 1930s. The shag is still danced today by swing dance enthusiasts worldwide.
